Twitter was the place for people across the globe and share their interests. Many academics used their Twitter profile to not only engage with their research but also topics that they were passionate about with a broader audience. Academic community building and public engagement thrived on these interactions. However, since the rebranding, this space has dwindled and finding a new nest has been hard.
If you are struggling to find a place to migrate to from Twitter or conduct public engagement in a different social media platform, this workshop is for you!
On the 30th of January (Thursday), the OSCG will be organising a hands-on workshop on setting up a Mastodon account with the UB’s very own Babette Knauer! Babette is head of communications at the University of Groningen Library, where she developed the UB’s Mastodon strategy.
She will spend the first half of the hour going over Mastodon, its benefits and alignments to Open Science and setting up an account. The remainder of the time will be to develop your Mastodon account, follow people and mingle with other attendants.
